After spending a bit of time researching what type of hedge to plant in our garden I decided on Hornbeam. Its a fairly fast growing, grows well on poorer soils, looks good and holds its leave throughout winter.
So a little while later after placing an order for bare root plants, these arrived
To prepare the site I dug a deep trench. I part filled with compost that I then planted the hornbeams into back filling with a mixture of compost, topsoil and a sprinkling of bone meal. They were well healed in and then watered.
Hopefully given a couple years they will grow well.
